This is where you are in control of what you will learn. Since Open Space relies on participatory dialogue, and you and your colleagues contribute the topics of interest, you control how you navigate through the agenda as posted and negotiated in the marketplace. If there is a topic that you are keenly interested in exploring or sharing, be sure to contribute it to the marketplace and host a session on it!
And once in a session, the Law of Mobility kicks in. If you ever feel like you are not learning or contributing to a session, then you can move to another session. No one takes offense in Open Space as that is what helps make it useful for everyone attending. We want active, participatory learning through exploration of a topic. This makes the learning far more dynamic and meaningful than just listening to a presentation. We’ll have various supplies for people that want to workshop an issue or capture notes in a visible way.
Once you experience Open Space, you probably won’t look at standard conferences the same way.
Earning Credit – PDUs and SEUs
You can submit and earn credit for sessions you host or attend at Agile Coach Camp.
The latest PMI Talent Triangle is divided into Ways of Working, Power Skills, and Business Acumen. Most sessions fit easily into one or more of these categories and thus you earn PDUs for participating (or hosting) such a session. If you have questions and the session host can’t help you, see an organizer.
The Scrum Alliance also recognizes improving your skills by participating in Agile Coach Camp sessions; we generally fit into the ‘event’ category.
